Aloo tikki is a popular snack. Most commonly found at all Indian street snack stall, especially in the northern part.. As the name itself suggests that this snack is derived from Hindi language. Wherin aloo means potato and tikki means patty / cutlet. This snack is crisp, flavourful and delicious. Its basically made of boiled potatoes, spices and herbs which add flovour to the tikki . Tikki stuffing can vary according to your choice like stuffed spicy channadal or pean or even paneer. This tikki tastes good with the filling but you can prepare this without the filling too. Anything and everything goes well with the potatoes/aloo. Here in this recipe I showing Aloo tikki with onion stuffing.
Lipsmacking Stuffed AlooTikki

- Potatoes : 4 no. (big)
- Onion : 1 no. Big (finely chopped)
- Bread : 4 slices
- Greenchilly : 2 no. (finely chopped)
- Fresh Coriander leaves : 1/4 cup ( finely chopped)
- Garam masala powder : 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
- Cumin powder : 1/4 tspn
- Salt : to taste
- Oil : for shallow frying
Instructions

Pressure cook potatoes. When cool , peel and mash them till soft and mushy .
- Soak bread slices in water , squeeze the water completely.
- Mix the bread with mashed potatoes.
- Add a pinch of salt and mix well. set aside.
- In a pan heat tbspn Oil .
- Add cumin seeds allow them to splutter.
- Add finely chopped onion and saute till golden brown.
- Add finely chopped green chillies, coriander leaves, turmeric powder ,chilli powder, cumin powder,garam masala and salt to taste. Mix well .
- Allow the mixture to cool.
- Divide the potato mixture to equal parts.
- Grease your palm with oil. Take one portion of the potato mix flatten in palm.
- Place the stuffing/ filling in the centre .
- Close from all sides and form the shape of tikki.
- Shallow fry till golden brown on both sides.
- Serve hot with your favourite dip.
Note: Stuffing be changed according to your choice. Tikki can be deep fried as well.
